Cruise to Ship Cove/Meretoto to begin your walk in the historic bay where explorer Captain James Cook once anchored his ships.

A gradual climb through stunning native forest rewards you with magnificent views over Queen Charlotte Sound/Tōtaranui and Cook Strait. Passing Resolution Bay, take a break on the seats overlooking Endeavour Inlet before descending to the shoreline and the easy walk into Furneaux Lodge.

If you have time, enjoy a well deserved lunch or snack and a drink at the lodge before meeting us at the jetty for the boat ride back to Picton - departs approx 3pm.

Note: If you're planning to do this walk over winter, due to the length of the section from Ship Cove to Furneaux Lodge, it is recommended only for fit walkers/runners if you wish to catch the same-day Cougar Line pick-up from Furneaux Lodge.

A very pleasant ferry out to do the Ship Cove to Furneax Lodge - a now 17km walk as some of the track has been re-done. Captain stopped the boat so we could enjoy seeing dolphins along the way.

Ferry has the facilities you need, and scenery along the way breathtaking. I found the staff helpful at the booking in phase, as needed more info on the walk grade. And check in was seemless.

Re the walk - What an incredible walk this is, scenery is stunning the entire journey. I am bear the half century, and of moderate fitness, and managed this walk with plenty of time to spare for a pint at the lodge.
